GIS Engineer

R Systems is searching for a skilled GIS Engineer to join a newly formed team within the IT department, working on a strategic fiber network mapping and planning initiative.

You will be part of the Core Products Tribe, contributing to the end-to-end lifecycle of fiber infrastructure—from construction planning to operational management.

This role focuses on geo-mapping automation using Python and working with ESRI technologies to manage large-scale infrastructure data.

Your contribution:

- Develop and maintain geo-mapping solutions for fiber infrastructure
- Automate mapping workflows using Python
- Work with ESRI / ArcGIS ecosystem for spatial data management
- Handle large-scale datasets (millions of records)
- Support both automated and manual mapping processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, Network, construction partners)
- Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, workflows, and architecture

Bring along:

Strong experience with Python (automation, data processing)
Hands-on experience with:
ESRI / ArcGIS
ArcPy
FME (workflow automation tool)
Solid knowledge of:
JavaScript
MapSDK
ESRI Experience Builder
Knowledge of data manipulation in versioned environments
Understanding of Utility Network concepts
Experience with ESRI branch versioning

Nice to Have

Experience in telecom or fiber network projects
Familiarity with cloud environments or DevOps practices
Experience working in agile/tribe-based organizations

Soft Skills

Strong communication skills (English required)
Proactive and high-energy mindset
Ability to work with incomplete documentation
Curiosity and willingness to ask the right questions
Problem-solving and self-learning attitude

Working Conditions

Availability during core collaboration hours:
09:30 – 15:00 CET (10:30 – 16:00 RO time)
Hybrid/remote setup with distributed teams across Europe

The working schedule is 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, and is carried out in a hybrid regime, involving presence in the office for 2 out of the 5 working days. A different number of days of presence in the office may be required in the future, depending on local or global policies
